The iPad 2 is here
Original logo design and stationery printing from Logo Supermarket.
Welcome to the first iPad 2 review from Logo Supermarket. I wish I had my hands on one already but not long to wait now! First off lets go through the key features that are all new for the second hotly anticipated addition the the tablet market.
All-new design
No tweaks, no old frames, they really have changes the whole design of this thing. It's a whole 33% thinner than its big brother and 15% lighter on some models 1.5lbs to 1.3lbs. That is an astonishing achievement by Apple, to put it in perspective, if you have an iPhone 4 then this will be thinner that that! And it comes in two colours... black and white... from day one! The 10 hour battery life hasn't suffered either so that's impressive considering all the extras that the iPad 2 packs.
Dual-core A5 chip
We have discussed the A4 chip in previous articles and I was impressed with the punch that packed. The A5 is a monster in comparison. For starters it's dual core so twice the CPU performance. They have boosted the graphics by x9 which will be incredible. The chip also uses the same power as the A4.
Video Cameras
Rear and front facing cameras have made it to the iPad 2 so FaceTime is now possible across different utilities like iPhone 4 to iPad 2. Like the iPhone the front facing camera is VGA quality and the rear is HD so it's a great addition.
Gyroscope
The iPhone 4's gyroscope has made it into the iPad 2 enabling a whole plethora of gaming and navigation abilities.
iPad Smart Covers
This is a really cool addition and it's about time they jumped this hurdle. What's worse than buying a brand new stylish iPad and then sticking it in a clunky chunky leather case that wouldn't look out of place on granny's knee. This time round they have designed it with the cover in mind from day one. It has magnetic clips and can fold in varying ways to achieve hands-free viewing, clever and relatively cheap.
Lock button multi-function
This is a fairly simple addition but like most things a great idea. It allows you to dual programme the lock button to act as a screen orientation lock as well as a normal device lock. That means that when you are reading a book lying on the sofa and you turn to your side, instead of the orientation flipping round it stays where you want it to be, simple but clever!
There are just a few of the improvements and in a few days I will be going over the new operating system 4.3 which is coming soon.
